Year 3 English learning Monday 30th March
Good Morning Everyone!
I hope you had a relaxing weekend with your family and are ready to do some learning this week. Just like last week, we are going to use Pobble365 to ‘read’ pictures, answer some questions, using our Destination Reader skills, practise some grammar and write some stories. Also we shall make another factfile this week.
Today’s picture is called RUMPLESTILTSKIN. Answer the questions using full sentences and post them using J2e5.
Later today, I want you to practise your ICT skills as we usually have ICT on Mondays.
Click on the JIT button and have an explore of the resources. You could design a picture and upload it, using all the tools there. You could make a bar chart or a graph. Just have a go.
It would also be lovely to hear your voices, I have been starting to leave an audio message to some of you. I will leave some more today, if you can, send one back.
Have fun!
from Ms Heath
Year 3 Maths Learning Monday 30th March
Good morning parents and children, I hope you’re all excited for another week of online learning. Five more school days until the Easter holidays so let’s make them all count.
I will be setting the maths task daily this week and at times, it may not be Mathletics so it will be important to make sure you log on to J2ewebby to ensure you’re up to date with instructions and directions for your learning.
Year 3 were mid-way through learning ‘length’ so we will be continuing that this week.
Firstly, log on to Expresso Discovery and watch an introduction video to perimeter. There are also some activities/games you can play which can help solidify your understanding.
Username – student21056
Password- malorees
Next, log on to Mathletics and complete the tasks and test set on length and perimeter. The Mathletics homework will be live till 6pm.
Good luck and enjoy!

Year 3 English and Art learning Friday 27th March
Good Morning and a huge well done to all those who have logged in every day to find out about Year 3 learning. A big well done to the parents too.
Today I want you to answer the questions on the Pobble365 picture about Superman.
You will have to use your imagination, and don’t forget to answer the questions in full sentences please.
Ms Foster has sent me a lovely Art activity you could do, connected to the Stone Age. It will probably take you quite a long time, so we can call it homework. If you don’t have all the materials you need, don’t worry, improvise with things that were going to be thrown away, cardboard packaging etc
Here are the instructions:
Make a Stone Age Cave in a shoebox
1. Paint the outside of the box a stone colour (greys and browns). You can stick tufts of grass here and there.
2. Crumple up some brown paper and glue it to the inside of the box for a 3D effect. Add a tiny cave painting. Or use chalks or charcoal to make marks on the walls.
3. Spread glue on the ‘ground’ and sprinkle with leaves, grass, a few twigs, sand and, of course, stones; even a few animal bones!
4. Put a paper cone tent outside. Cover it with fabric and paint it an earthy colour.
5. Add a bonfire with sticks, and coloured ‘flames’.
6. Make tiny tools (spear, handaxe, club, dagger) out of cardboard or attach little stones to sticks with glue, string, wool or thread.
7. make a cooking pot out of plasticene, and fill it with ‘food’
8. Construct ladders or drying racks from cocktail or lollipop sticks. Hang little foil fish from them.
9. Make dolly peg or cardboard stone age people and dress them up (furry fabric animal skins, woolly hair).
10. Make a woolly mammoth – or a stampeding herd of them!
Print out a photo of your model cave and label everything in it.
Then write a paragraph describing the materials you used and how you made it.
Over the weekend I hope you will be doing lots of reading for pleasure and keep up the exercises! Remember your parents can message us on Class dojo if they need advice.
Good luck!
Year 3 English Learning – Thursday 26th March
Good Morning everyone – here is today’s work, Ms Chentouf and Ms Heath are already excited to read the story you are going to write today, based on the Pobble365 picture of the day.
THE HOLE IN THE FENCE.
Read the story starter, and then see if you can continue it, remember all the usual things such as:
Capital letters and full stops
Speech marks (if a character speaks)
Paragraphs to break up the writing
EXCITING word choice – paint a picture with your words!
Handy tip: jot down a plan first, don’t just start writing, have a think about what is going to happen and then make sure you really try your best to make it exciting and detailed. As this story may be longer than the usual daily task, you could write it on paper and upload pictures of the writing on to class dojo for us to read, or start the story today and finish it for homework over the next few days. I want this story to be really good so don’t rush it.
Question Time is really fun today too.
AND Buddy Bruno has left you a message and the battles are beginning in Times Table Rockstars. I will be honest, 3C have scored victories over 3H in the past, now is the time for 3H to start the fight back …
Get learning everyone!
The Times Table Rockstars Monster League is here!
Have you heard the news about the biggest ever Malorees Times Table Rockstars competition? Every class plays every other class over nine days, with four battles a day.
Between 10am and 8pm, you can help your class to win its battle. The rocking begins on Thursday with:
4B v 3H 4M v 5G
3C v 6F 4K v 6D
Don’t worry 5S, your rocking starts on Friday.
There’s more information and a full fixture list here, and a message from Buddy Bruno here. Rock on!
Year 3 English & Science Learning Wednesday 26th
Good Morning everyone!
How is everyone today? I hope you are getting used to doing some learning at home, today we are going to do something a bit different on Pobble365.
The picture is of a possum and her young. Please find out a little bit about possums and make a factfile instead of doing Question Time.
When you have done that, I want you do some Science.
Our topic is Rocks and Soils at the moment, we are going to learn a little more about that.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z9bbkqt
Use the website BBC Bitesize Rocks Soils and Fossils KS2
I want you to focus on:
How are Fossils Made and What Can we Learn From Fossils
Watch both clips and then do the activities online. If you want you could make pictures of the activities you completed and post them on here.
If you can get outside in a garden, you could make a fossil picture using stones or leaves, or if you wish you could watch the BBC clip all about Mary Anning and write a factfile about her too. (3H know a bit about that already as it was going to be the theme of our assembly, but you could watch the film again).
Have fun everyone and don’t forget to post your work later.
Year 3 English Learning Tuesday 24th March
Good morning Year 3
This morning you are going to use Pobble 365 again. Once you have googled it and are in you will see today’s picture, it is called MAGIC.
Do the questions in the Question Time section like yesterday, and then try the sentence challenge.
It asks you to choose which word is an adverb.
Remember an adverb tells us more about a verb, and verbs are action words such as running, smiled, clapped, worked.
Try out which word would go with a verb and put it in a sentence under the heading SENTENCE CHALLENGE.
Remember to send your work to us by clicking on j2e5 and pressing publish when you have finished.
Optional IDEAS for your afternoon:
Draw a picture with the theme of magic and send it in.
Make a list all the books or characters who are magical. (start reading one!)
Invent a magic trick. Dress up as someone magical and send the photo to classdojo.
See if there is a song or dance on Gonoodle with the word magic in it and learn the dance.
Invent a magic potion and write the recipe on j25e.
Year 3 Day One Maths Tasks
Good Morning Year 3!
I hope the sun is shining where you are and that you are all enjoying the indoors as much as I am. How cool is it to be able to complete your school work in your pyjamas? I’m loving marking your work in my pyjamas!
To allow this week to run as smoothly as possible, I have decided to set all maths work on Mathletics.
I have assigned two topics for us to cover this week, important topics that we tend not to spend too much time for, (Money and Time). You have until Friday 3pm to complete all tasks set so I would divide them equally throughout the week.
I have also set some challenge tasks on Time which focuses on problem solving and reasoning. Don’t worry if you don’t get round to this, a little extra for those who want a little more of a push, (and if you’re able to win more laptop time).
We also have a test assigned for Friday 27th between 2pm-3pm. This is a 10min times-table test which is for the 3, 4 and 8 timetables so get revising guys!
Although all the work is due for Friday, I would like you to complete a bit each day by 3pm. This will allow me to check in on how you all are going.
Good luck guys, try your best and see you all online on Friday!
Enjoy,
Ms Chentouf
