The school bell has rung! Easter Holidays!

Hello wonderful families.. Well done for reaching the end of the (homeschooling) term! Have the much deserved and needed rest, spending time with your loved ones!

I have set some addition and subtraction revision on Mathletics for the Easter holidays due Sunday the 19th of April, a few tasks over the two weeks.

I have also scheduled another two times table test on Mathletics, both for the 2,4,3,5 and 10 times tables. (2,5 and 10 are year two targets- 3 and 4 are revision.) These tests will stop those who know them from going rusty and those who don’t an opportunity to catch up.

Friday 10th – test 1
Friday 17th – test 2

Even though it’s the Easter break, I will be online and around each day for anybody who may have some questions.

Thank you for caring so much and dedicating teaching time at home. I know it isn’t easy and I really appreciate your support through everything. You are all doing a great job. Please remember when it gets frustrating and over whelming, just take a break. That’s all part of learning too.

Enjoy the holidays together, inside safely.

Year 3 message as we embark on our school holiday!

Dear All,

Firstly a big thank you for all your hard work over the last two weeks.  It has been wonderful to see your work and to hear your audio messages.

While you are on holiday, keep reading and practising your Maths skills!  Get outside as often as you can and enjoy playing with your family.

If you are stuck for something to do, there are lots of ideas in the black space bar at the top of the j2e webby page, marked Holiday activities.  Try some of them if you can!

Stay safe and healthy and we should be able to see one another face to face early next term through the wonders of google classroom.  We will explain that in more detail after the holiday.

I wish you all a very Happy Easter, best wishes from Ms Heath!

Friday 3rd April English and RE Learning

Good Morning All … it’s our last day of learning and then we all get a two week holiday and time for a rest and relax.   Today there is a Pobble365 to do, please answer the questions and then have a go at extending the story.

resource image

It would be wonderful if you illustrate the story with a spectacular picture of a dragon.

This afternoon as part of your RE learning, you could have a look on Espresso at the 3 videos about Easter, then there is a quiz in the Activities section.

https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/primary_uk/subject/module/frontscreen/item1028383/grade2/index.html?source=subject-RE-KS2-RE-Resource%20types

Even if you don’t celebrate Easter, you may have taken part in an Easter Egg hunt, or know what one is.  This holiday why not plan an Easter hunt around your house or garden.  You have to plan a surprise at the end of the hunt, and make tricky clues to lead to the surprise.  You could plan it with a brother or sister, and the surprise could be for a parent, or you could plan it all by yourself.  Have fun!

During the holidays, keep reading, you can write stories, you can write a diary about how you are feeling,  remember no-one has ever been in this situation before and when you grow up, you might want to look back and remember what it felt like to be going to school in your own house !

There is a j2e button at the top of the bar on the webby page full of Holiday Activities for you to try if you are bored.  I especially like the never ending book activity, I really hope one of you has a go at making one!

Thursday 2nd April, English and Art learning

Good morning all!   It was great fun seeing some of you posting your photos in your school uniforms, we tricked you with an April Fool’s joke.    Sorry!

Today I’d like you to answer the questions about today’s Pobble365 picture.   Then have a go at the Sentence Challenge.    (I think there is something wrong with the story starter as it doesn’t match the picture so just ignore that).

Mrs Foster has sent in a lovely Art challenge based on Picasso’s drawings.  See if you can have a go and post your drawings.

Web link:
http://www.pablopicasso.net/penguin/
The artist Picasso always liked a trick. One of them was to draw simple pictures using a continuous line.
Check out the web link to see his ‘penguin’.

You can practise doing these yourself. The results are often weird and wacky, and sometimes hilarious.
Using a black marker pen, practice drawing anything you like: a flower, your pet, your mum, yourself…
It only takes a few minutes to do each one. How many can you do in one sitting?
Remember, no cheating! Don’t take your pen off the page until your drawing is complete. And no rubbing out – any ‘mistakes’ or double lines, squiggles and loops will make your work even more interesting.
You can experiment by using markers of different thicknesses. You can also draw to music. also
Have fun!
Then take a photo of your best drawing and post it back to your page. We shall make an online gallery!
P S How good is your visual memory? Mrs Foster has been practising this blindfold !

Wednesday 1st April Year 3 Maths Learning

Good Morning families and superstar learners!

Based on the perimeter learning that was posted yesterday, you have shown to really understand what a perimeter is and how to find it so well done from me!

So, lets have fun today! Using the link below, create and explore shapes and their perimeter on this topmarks game. Eventually, create an image of a stone-age cave and share its perimeter.

Don’t forget to wear your school uniform, School Rules!

Wednesday 1st April Year 3 English & Science Learning

Good Morning all !

Today I have a special message from Ms Davies and Ms Harris.  They want to make sure you are wearing your school uniforms when you do your school work.  It is NOT allowed to be doing any learning in pyjamas so we need to check you are getting dressed for school every day.  Please post a photo of yourself wearing it by 12pm today.

Now let’s get on with today’s learning.   Do the Pobble365 questions all about Animal Town.

After that we are going to do some Science.  We are going to find out all about SOIL and what it is made of.  There are some links to follow:  the first link is the longest and most detailed:

The 2nd is shorter but the teacher speaks very quickly!

and the last is very easy to watch and has an activity to do afterwards:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z9bbkqt/articles/ztvbk2p

When you have watched all or some of the clips, see if you can answer these questions and publish them in j2e5.

  1.  What is soil made from?
  2.  How many different types of soil are there and what makes them different?
  3. Why do we need soil?
  4. CHALLENGE: What do worms do that is important for soil?

Hope you enjoy this task!

Year 3 Maths learning Tuesday 31st March

Good Morning everybody and Happy Tuesday!

So we all now know what a perimeter is and how to measure the perimeter of a shape. If you don’t catch up watching this video at the end of this post… Today I would like you to work through this  ‘perimeter check list’.

If you do not have a ruler, then use an object you know its length or use an object and then create a unit of measure for it. e.g a book; the perimeter of the table was 21 book .

Perimeter Checklist

  1. Draw 6 polygon shapes and measure their perimeter.
  2. Make up and draw your own shape, then measure its perimeter.
  3. Measure the perimeter of your table.
  4. Measure the perimeter of your room.
  5. Measure the perimeter of your favourite thing.
  6. Measure the perimeter of the book you are reading.
  7. Draw an outline of your feet, then measure its perimeter. How did you decide to do it?
  8. Measure the perimeter of ………. (Surprise us)

Record your findings to a post, add pictures and videos if you can and send in your post by 3pm today. Get investigating and good luck!

Year 3 English Learning Tuesday 31st March

Morning everyone!

I hope you got a chance to see my dog, Doug’s message to you all. (It’s underneath this post if you missed it yesterday.)

This morning I want you to use Pobble 365 but you do NOT have to extend the story or do anything imaginative at all apart from have a go at the questions.

Today I would like you to write another factfile, this time about bees.  Try and use sub-headings to put your facts into groups.  If you can copy and paste some images off the internet as well, even better.

If you want to, later in the day you could invent a game with a bee theme and play it.  You could find a recipe that uses honey and write it out, or even cook it!  Maybe you can make up a rhyming poem about bees, or make a bee picture or model using junk.

Challenge:   Explain what these sayings mean:

‘The bees knees’

You’ve got a bee in your bonnet.

‘Make a bee line’

Have fun and make sure you are a busy bee!
